Five amazing fundraisers
We've had a brilliant 2019! To celebrate here are just five of our favourite fundraising moments.
100 marathons
Avid runners Diane and Nick Armstrong completed their 100th marathon on 18 May 2019.
They organised the run in memory of Nick’s mum and fellow marathon runner Valerie Harrold.
Diane and Nick raised over £4,000 and all the proceeds went to our Holehird care home in Windemere where Valerie was a resident.
Disabled cyclist takes on Nightrider
Jennie Goodrum and her team took on the tough Nightrider Bristol cycling challenge and raised £1,000.
Our inclusive cycling project Gloucestershire Wheels for All inspired Jennie to get pedalling.
From Belgium to Luxembourg
Sophie and Gary from Nottinghamshire took on the challenge of driving their vintage 1930 Austin Seven 230 miles from Belgium to Luxembourg in one day.
In honour of our founder, RAF Pilot Leonard Cheshire, the duo began their journey at RAF Scampton.
Record-breaking London Marathon
This year we had an amazing 84 supporters take part in the London Marathon!
Runners from across the UK, USA, Singapore and beyond took to the streets of the capital in support of us on Sunday 28 April.
They raised an amazing £150,000! A special shout out to one of our top fundraisers, Deborah Apostolides, who raised over £8,000.
Superheroes for a day
Our amazing service, Randall Close, had a team take on the Superhero Tri in August. They did a fantastic job!
Marvin even composed a rap about his experience, ending with ‘Three people chasing the same dream, All three of us can make a superhero sports machine’.
