Eight things to look forward to in 2020

The Paralympics 

We're set to be well represented in Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Our ambassador Sophie Morgan will be presenting Channel Four’s live coverage while our other ambassador Olivia Breen will be competing for GB in the Long Jump/100 metres.

Social Bean Café

Look out for the official opening of our first social enterprise café in sunny Swansea! The cafe is designed to offer employment opportunities for local disabled people. Make mine a double cappuccino!

Innovation to inclusion (i2i)

To date, the i2i programme has featured a diverse group of contributors from DPO’s to the private sector. In 2020 we move into the next phase of this exciting project, funded by DFID, and start to involve employers in improving the skills and confidence of 10,000 people with disabilities in Kenya and Bangladesh.

Predictive health analytics

Predictive health analytics are beginning to emerge in the shape of monitoring technology. This could be anything from acting as a 24-7 guardian from mainstream security to more sophisticated social care related benefits.

Human style interaction

We'll see increasingly more human style interaction with personal assistant products. This will be a blended approach to interface design – touch the screen, talk, gesture – depending on the need and situation.

Machine learning

A combination of bio-engineering and technology are increasingly creating meaningful solutions through machine learning. These can interpret complex speech patterns or (early stage) brainwave recognition of specified vocabulary. It can enable a person with complex speech to be interpreted effectively.

More personalisation

We'll start to see more personalisation in product development. This could be through artificial intelligence and algorithms interpreting more of what you are likely to want or need, or 3d printing technology allowing for open source design of products.  

New product design

We'll start to see a new product design with foldable screens. These will be a blend of tablet/laptop/mobile device that is complete with new operating systems.
