How to get here
We’re about five minutes by car from the centre of Reigate, and we’re just three hundred yards from Reigate train station. The station is wheelchair accessible, connecting people to London and across the UK. We have good road links, yet the home still manages to feel secluded thanks to its attractive garden.
Who we support
Our team provides personalised support for disabled adults. Everyone has a person-centred plan (PCP), which is updated as required. We take time to understand the key things that are important to each individual.
We know that people’s conditions are just one part of their lives, affecting people in different ways. In case it is useful for prospective residents to know, we assist people with a range of impairments including:
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- Physical conditions (some residents are wheelchair users; others have reduced mobility)
What support we provide
We have dedicated support workers, who assist people to live their lives as they choose. We support people to build their social lives, see family and friends. We help people to access the local community. We offer all forms of personal care and mobility support. We take time to provide communication support to each individual. Where needed, we support people with managing and taking medication. The building has wheelchair access. There is a lift to the first floor. We also work with external organisations providing independent advocacy for people at Dorandene. These organisations include Matrix: their staff regularly visit Dorandene and offer additional support to residents.
What activities are available
Residents can explore Reigate, which has plenty of shops, cafés, restaurants. It also has a theatre, cinema, leisure centre. Some people enjoy going to the parks not far from the service.
Residents enjoy going to day service support services: Dayspace runs a popular local centre; Surrey Choices provides a similar community hub in the nearby town of Redhill. People take the chance to meet up with other regulars. Within the service, some residents like to do artwork and some like to play ball games. Others enjoy spending time in the sensory area, which has lights and sounds to stimulate imagination. In good weather, residents like to relax in the accessible garden. This is a well-maintained, peaceful space with raised flowerbeds.
Each person, of course, has their own individual interests. We make sure there’s something for everyone to get involved in.
