Response to Philip Alston’s final report

The UN rapporteur on extreme poverty Philip Alston has delivered a final verdict on the impact of cuts to public services since 2010.

Responding to it, Neil Heslop, Chief Executive for Leonard Cheshire said:

'This final report is a stark indictment about our society and should be a wake-up call to the Government and all of us.

'Austerity has pushed many disabled people into further poverty, ill-health and social isolation at alarming rates.

'As Alston identifies, too many rights have been violated since 2010 and the Government must not waste time in shooting the messenger and respond to such a stark call to action.'
