Response to data on Disabled Person's Railcard

Our response to the Office of Rail and Road data on Disabled Person's Railcard (DPRC).

In response to Office of Rail and Road data on Disabled Person's Railcard (DPRC) released 17 January*, our Head of Policy and Campaigns Husna Mortuza said:

‘It is encouraging to see that the number of Disabled Persons Railcards (DPRC) in circulation in Great Britain has increased again, this time by over 15,000. This indicates the regular use of rail services by disabled people to help them live, learn and work as independently as they choose.

‘However, with over 222,000 disabled people regularly using rail services in Great Britain, it is essential that operators provide a quality service.

‘Access to station platforms and trains should be step-free, pre-arranged support should be in place at the right time, accessible toilets should be widespread and information should be available in formats suitable for people with sensory disabilities.’
