Prioritising girls with disabilities' education

Responding to the FCDO’s recent ‘Declaration on girls’ education: recovering from COVID-19 and unlocking agenda 2030’ following G7 discussions this week, our Director of Policy Gemma Hope said:

“The new targets around girls’ education are welcome news in light of the huge disruption to schooling caused by Covid-19. It’s particularly encouraging to see G7 ministers prioritising inclusive education and making a specific declaration to put marginalised girls at the forefront of their efforts.

"Moving forward, it would be positive to see clear and time-sensitive sub-targets that set out exactly how girls with disabilities will be prioritised as part of this work. As well as the vital financial commitments from G7 countries that will be agreed upon to ensure these ambitious but commendable targets are met. Collaboration will be essential and we look forward to seeing how we can work closely with G7 Ministers to ensure that no girl is left behind.”
