Air Marshal of the RAF Lord Stirrup and Air Vice Marshal, Andrew Turner have also signed a limited number of copies of Spitfire over Le Court, which was first shown at ‘Leonard Cheshire - A Pilot’s Story’ exhibition at The Mall Galleries last summer.
Eight of the original paintings commissioned by aviation artist Graham Singleton will also be available to purchase on the new look fully accessible website.
Spitfire over Le Court is the work of Chris Draper and depicts the celebrated pilot and philanthropist flying over the first home he founded.
Draper commented:
‘The painting stems from an account in his biography of visitors to a fundraising fete in July 1951 held at Le Court watching him do an extremely low fly over. It was a large Victorian Mansion, characterised by several tall chimneys, which many visitors thought Leonard had flown between. Interestingly the Spitfire is still flying and is based at Biggin Hill.’
