Blueleaf Care give generous ‘hand out’ to carers

Blueleaf, who already provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the charity, have donated £2,000 worth of hand gel to help protect staff working hard on the frontlines. The charity runs 120 care homes and supported living facilities across the UK, with 4,700 staff caring round the clock for 2,700 vulnerable disabled adults.

Discussing the donation, Luke Evershed, business development director at Blueleaf Care, commented:

“There are so many important roles within the care sector from carers and nurses, to domestic teams, maintenance teams, chefs and activities co-ordinators. These people work so hard to enhance the lives of others every day and are caring for people in such a challenging time. 

“We wanted to be able to give back to these people in some way. Our donation is a small gift from Blueleaf, but a large honour for us to be able to show our appreciation for the great work Leonard Cheshire care staff are doing.”

The charity is currently spending £400,000 a month on PPE, as well as extra costs like additional staff to cover those who may be self-isolating.

Hugh Fenn, executive director UK services at Leonard Cheshire, commented:

“While lockdown may be easing in some ways, protecting our frontline staff and residents still remains our first priority.

"It is so encouraging that three months down the line companies like Blueleaf are continuing to make such vital donations to our services. We’re extremely grateful to them for this act of kindness and their continued support.”
